The Eversource Energy Service Center in Hartford is a historically significant 1920s three-story brick clad building. Tecton completed a meticulous interior and exterior renovation of the 84,000 SF facility and delivered a showcase for energy efficiency and sustainable design. To achieve the client’s goal of a 60% reduction in annual energy costs, the design team incorporated exposed convection chilled beam technology throughout the office. A long-span skylight system brings daylight into the open office and truck storage areas, further reducing energy use for lighting. After replacement of the exterior windows, new aluminum entrances and brick restoration, energy modeling indicates that the building will perform 17% better than a new building designed to current energy code standards.
