In support of a facility rebrand, Tecton was tasked with replacing MassMutual's existing, out-of-date conferencing suite to better support their Springfield staff. The space was originally built in the 1920s as a basketball court, but had been remodeled in 1972 to serve as a conferencing center, auditorium, and storage facility. Inspired by the historic aspects of the existing space as well as our client’s need for high-tech facilities, Tecton’s design focused on a contrasting mix of old and new. Our team re-exposed the brick, windows, and skylight, while adding modern elements with glass, metal, and wood.
