A Welcoming, Multi-Generational Cultural Destination

The Town of West Hartford and Tecton Architects led an intensive, community-focused effort to rethink and reinvigorate the Elmwood Community Center. The community center will be relocated to a Town-owned property adjacent to West Hartford’s Beachland park, creating a connected campus for the Elmwood neighborhood . Tecton completed a comprehensive evaluation of the existing mid-century building on the site, a programmatic space needs assessment and preliminary concepts and estimates, all guided by the Town’s values, sustainability goals and community feedback. The resulting facility will incorporate community, senior and library programs in an enhanced environment that reflects the diversity and dynamic character of the West Hartford community.
